This happens for example on headless machines. This service is not enabled when NoMachine cannot detect any X server up and running on the system. The nxnode service listed above is a daemon necessary for connecting NoMachine users to the physical desktop of that host. In some cases, when checking the NoMachine server status, the nxnode service looks to be disabled, NoMachine virtual desktops and custom sessions work normally:
